Manchester City Manager Pep Guardiola: We Have To Win The Game, Otherwise Liverpool Will Win
JAKARTA - Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, said his team should not slip again in the hunt for the English Premier League title. If that happens, it is not impossible for the title to fall into the hands of rivals, Liverpool.
Manchester City just failed to win when they met West Ham United. Appearing at the opponent's cage, The Citizens had to settle for a 2-2 draw.
"We need four points and now there is no debate on goal difference and no debate about anything, we just have to win our game and if not, Liverpool will be champions," said Guardiola, as quoted by Antara from the club's official website.
Next, Manchester City will face Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium. Guardiola asked his team to appear all-out in the match. He also hopes for support from the club's supporters.
"To have the opportunity with our people, to win one game to be champions. I'm looking forward to that," Guardiola explained.
"We will rest for two days, be mentally disconnected and then we will train for three or four days and prepare for the game on Sunday."
"It will be difficult, emotional and we have to analyze what we have to do to beat Aston Villa, but we will give everything we have for 95 minutes to win, I'm pretty sure of that... everything we have."
Currently, Manchester City are in first place in the Premier League standings with 90 points from 37 matches, four points behind Liverpool who will play on Tuesday night against Southampton.
The Citizen's squad need to secure victory in the match against Aston Villa this weekend to establish themselves as Premier League champions this season, regardless of the result of Liverpool's match.
