Indonesia's 22nd Gold Medal Comes From Bicycle Racing
JAKARTA - The Indonesian contingent has added another gold medal collection at the 2021 SEA Games. Indonesia's 22nd gold medal came from the cycling sport.
The gold medal was presented by Zainal Fanani, who took part in the men's MTB-Cross Country Olympic (XCO) number. He became the fastest in the race which took place at Hoa Binh Gymnastics and Sports Center, Hoa Binh Province, Vietnam, Monday, May 16.
Zainal finished with a time of 1 hour 16.41 minutes. He was followed by another Indonesian athlete, Ihza Muhammad, who won the silver medal in 1 hour 19.14 minutes.
Meanwhile, the bronze medal belonged to the Filipino athlete Jericho Rivera after finishing in 1 hour 20.04 minutes.
In the earlier competition, Sayu Bella Sukma Dewi, who entered the women's XCO event, failed to donate a medal for Indonesia because she finished fifth.
The gold of this number belongs to the hosts, while the silver and bronze are brought by Malaysia.
The Indonesian cycling team has so far collected two gold medals and two silver medals. The first gold previously came from Tiara Andini Prastika who fell in the women's downhill number.
Meanwhile, Andy Prayoga donated a silver medal from the men's downhill number.
