Security Guards And Students Become New Suspects In The Rioting Against The Job Creation Law In Malang
JAKARTA - The City Police (Polresta) Malang City named two new suspects regarding the rioting during a demonstration against the Job Creation Law in Malang City, East Java, on Thursday, October 8.
Kasatreskrim Malang City Police AKP Azi Pratas Guspitu said the two suspects were found guilty of destroying official vehicles of Malang City Government, including four-wheeled vehicles of Malang City Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP).
"There were two additional suspects, after we developed them from the previous suspect with the initials AN," said Azi, in Malang City, East Java, as reported by Antara, Wednesday, October 14.
Azi added that the two other suspects were residents of Malang Regency, East Java. One person is a student, while one other person is already working as security.
According to Azi, the two new suspects were suspected of throwing stones at officers and the Malang City Regional Representative Council (DPRD) Building, including the arson of the Malang City Satpol PP official vehicle.
"Both of them have been named as suspects," said Azi.
Azi added that the two additional new suspects, one of whom were part of the 129 people who were arrested at a demonstration on Thursday, October 8. Meanwhile, one other person was not included in the 129 people who were arrested at that time.
"One person is part of the 129 people who were secured, the other is outside. One is a student, the other one is working as security," said Azi.
With the addition of the two new suspects, in total there were three suspects in rioting demonstrations in Malang City. AN allegedly involved in destroying the bus belonging to the Batu Police. The police secured the stone evidence used by AN.
At the demonstration which was held in front of the Malang City Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) Building, at first it was orderly. However, there was a riot that caused damage to the council building, including broken glass at Malang City Hall.
Apart from that, the protesters also burned several official vehicles belonging to the Malang City Government, as well as the police. As a result of this incident, dozens of officers and demonstrators were injured. In that incident, as many as 129 people were arrested by the police.
In that incident, several four-wheeled vehicles that were damaged included belonging to the Civil Service Police Unit, the Regional Development Planning Agency, the Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency (BKAD), and the Malang City Government Public Relations vehicle.
In addition, several public facilities that were damaged include road signs, damaged city parks, broken glass in the Malang City Hall building, including damage to the Malang City DPRD Building.
