Erick Thohir: Digital Disruption Will Reformat Industry And Economy
JAKARTA - SOE Minister Erick Thohir said digital disruption would reformat the industry and economy.
"The presence of digital disruption will reformat many industries and economies," said Erick Thohir, quoted by Antara, Sunday, May 15.
Of the 10 largest companies in the world, he said, seven of them are technology companies.
This is a signal of a major change in the industry that human resource exploration is now worth more than the natural resource industry.
This can be interpreted as an opportunity that young people can take advantage of to be able to compete.
As a result of the disruption more jobs are lost than are growing.
"This means that there will be significant changes in terms of work. This needs to be anticipated," said Erick Thohir.
Erick also asked that this digitalization should not make young people passive.
"We are already facing the first wave with the presence of online media. Then the second wave with the presence of various applications. Then the third wave with the presence of the metaverse. Don't let all of this become just an arena dominated by foreign products," he said.
Therefore, he sees it as a must for young Indonesians to pursue technology, especially digital.
Erick is optimistic that Indonesia will be able to compete in the new world economic arena if young people master the ins and outs of digital technology.
Refers to the fact that Indonesia is now the majority of the population is a young population.
According to him, young Indonesians in digitalization will be the main force in responding to technological disruption.
The reason is, digital disruption is a big opportunity for Indonesia to become a world economic power in 2045.
"God willing, we will continue to grow in 2045 to become one of the main powers of the world economy," said Erick.
