Leg Lifting Exercises Are Trusted To Improve Mobility

JAKARTA - The exercise of lifting the toes up to the top of the foot by resting on the heel offers great benefits for balance, strengthens the muscles of the lower leg, increases mobility and all these are the main benefits for healthy aging.

"Leg lifts are a great exercise to help you build strength, mobility, and stability in the muscles located at the front of the ankle and lower leg," says Grayson Wickham, DPT, CSCS, founder of Movement Vault. , Sunday, May 15.

On the other hand, this exercise can also increase blood flow to the heart. Blood vessels rely on muscle contraction to help blood flow back to the heart. The blood vessels around the feet and ankles have the most challenging time returning blood to the heart because of gravity (and the long distance to the heart.

"That's where ankle exercises, such as leg lifts, come in handy. These exercises can help facilitate blood flow by helping your blood vessels to transport blood (via muscle contraction) back to your heart and, in the process, supply all of the oxygen and nutrients it needs, "explained Wickham.

For best results, you should aim for a higher number of reps, i.e., do them as many times as you can, according to Wickham. To begin with, first stand straight with your feet shoulder-width apart. Resting on your heels, lift your toes and the front of your foot off the floor. Only your heels should stay on the ground. Pause for a moment, then lower your feet to the ground. Repeat this movement for 15-20 times.

Try doing these two to three sets of finger lifts at least twice a week, along with ankle stretches to maintain maximum mobility and healthy joints.
