Held Training To Distribute Rp115.3 Trillion Loans To MSMEs, Menkop Teten Asks Banks To Follow BNI's Steps
JAKARTA - The training and financing program for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) owned by PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBNI) has received appreciation from the Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs (MenkopUKM) Teten Masduki. The Coordinating Minister hopes that BNI's various proactive and innovative programs will be imitated by other banks.
"Especially for People's Business Credit (KUR) distributors, so that MSMEs can more easily develop and be more sustainable as the backbone of the economy," said Teten in an official statement quoted by Antara, Sunday, May 15.
He revealed that the current government continues to present a business ecosystem to encourage MSMEs to advance to class, one of which is through access to financing.
Banking credit is targeted to be gradually increased to 30 percent by 2024, from the current 20 percent or there are still many MSMEs that have not been able to access bank services.
"Therefore, access to financing for MSMEs requires continuous assistance so that they can develop business models so that they can take advantage of access to financing to improve their quality and production capacity," said Teten Masduki.
BNI's MSME Business Director Muhammad Iqbal said that in the midst of the pandemic, BNI managed to focus on helping MSMEs and making achievements.
Throughout the first quarter of 2021, BNI's MSME loan portfolio grew positively by Rp. 115.3 trillion, which touched more than 400,000 MSME players, driven by Indonesia's economic recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic.
BNI's MSME loans as of October 2021 were dominated by the small credit segment, which amounted to 63.7 percent or Rp. 73.7 trillion, followed by the medium segment by 35.6 percent or Rp. 9 trillion.
He said that BNI really believed in the capacity of the country's MSME players, which were currently growing.
"We also provide Xpora Training & Financing to support MSMEs to be more familiar with exports, especially since international trade is growing, this makes BNI confident," he said.
Iqbal explained that BNI's MSME loans had contributed 10.3 percent of the total national MSME loans as of October 2021.
