Proven Village Fund Corruption, Former Head Of OKU Village Sentenced To 5 Years In Prison

JAKARTA - The former Head of Pedataran Village (Kades), Ulu Ogan District, Ogan Komering Ulu Regency, South Sumatra, Kahirudin was sentenced to five years in prison by a panel of judges at the Palembang Corruption Court. He is judged proven guilty of corruption in village funds for the 2017 fiscal year.

Head of the Special Crimes Section (Kasi Pidsus) of the District Prosecutor's Office, Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU), Johan Ciptadi, said that the verdict had been handed down to the defendant in an online trial chaired by the Panel of Judges, Adi Prasetyo, which was held recently at the Palembang Corruption Court.

According to him, the verdict handed down by the panel of judges was lighter than the prosecutor's demands, namely seven years in prison with a fine of Rp. 200 million, a subsidiary of six months in prison and compensation for state losses of Rp. 404, 7 million.

"If the substitute money is not paid by the defendant, he will be subject to imprisonment for one year in prison," Johan told reporters as reported by Antara, Wednesday, October 14.

Regarding the decision of the panel of judges, he continued, the General Prosecutor (JPU) from the OKU Prosecutor's Office with members Mardiana, Ariandana, and Ari Dody Wijaya expressed their thoughts.

"The prosecutor expressed his thoughts on the verdict, as did the defendant," he said.
