Handwritten Lyrics Of The Beatles' Song Sells For IDR 2.7 Billion
JAKARTA - The Beatles have already disbanded. But, apart from the songs being immortal, their stories have never been consumed by the public.
The latest news from The Fab Four, the handwritten lyrics of the song While My Guitar Gently Weeps, written by George Harrison (guitar) and Ringo Starr (drums) are auctioned.
The Beatles duo designed the song in scribble on paper during the recording of the White Album at the legendary Abbey Road studios in London in 1968, according to the Daily Mail.
"I see you, see love sleeping," Harrison wrote at the very top of the paper posted on the Moments in Time auction website.
"When my guitar moans slowly when I sit here doing nothing but aging my guitar GW continue," he wrote in the final stanza.
Meanwhile, Starr, crossed out the line of lyrics in between. Including misspellings that have become a habit.
"This is complete with misspellings, a trademark of Ringo, and how he corrects one of those misspelled words on the margins," Beatles handwriting expert Frank Caizzo wrote in an authenticity letter posted on the auction site.
This artifact was sold for 195 thousand US dollars (about Rp2, 7 billion).
Caizzo said Beatles song lyrics like this are rarely found in private collections.
