Coordinating Minister For PMK Supports Minister Of Health Terawan's Policy Regarding Special Hospitals For Traditional Medicines
JAKARTA - The Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Muhadjir Effendy supports the policy of Minister of Health (Menkes) Terawan Agus Putranto regarding a special hospital based on traditional medicines.
According to Muhadjir, currently Terawan is finalizing a hospital program whose treatment uses traditional medicinal ingredients.
"I support the policy of the Minister of Health which will make some hospitals only use traditional medicine for service to patients," said Muhadjir in an event broadcast on YouTube, Wednesday, October 14.
Although this policy will create pros and cons in the community, he asked Terawan to be brave enough to continue the program he is currently developing.
"People who are confident, who have the determination because they believe that what they are doing is right, will definitely not be shaken," he said.
In addition, Muhadjir talked about his working visit to Karanganyar and Sukoharjo, Central Java some time ago. During the visit, he visited one of the herbal medicine industries and praised traditional medicinal plant farmers who keep moving even though they have not received any attention from the government.
"Based on my review, with my own eyes in the field, this is getting serious attention from the government, especially the Ministry of Health sector and related institutions," he said.
If only the herbal medicine industry gets more attention, he is sure that these medicinal plant farmers will reap maximum income and even be able to export abroad.
"If there is seriousness, I think this will be a good thing," he said.
Previously, Minister of Health Terawan had indeed said that his party continued to strengthen traditional health services that integrated conventional and complementary. So, in the future, traditional medicine in the hospital can be done because it is proven to be safe and useful.
To support this program, a number of trained Jamupoltekkes graduates are also provided. There are at least 561 D3 graduates and 373 D4 BA Trainner graduates who are ready to run this program. He said, currently there are a number of hospitals that run traditional medicine health services. One of them is Dr. Sardjito Hospital in Yogyakarta.
The former head of RSPAD Gatot Subroto also said that the Ministry of Health had prepared a traditional health service center hospital. This hospital is located in Tawangmangu, Central Java. This, he continued, aims to show the government's commitment to traditional medicine.
"This clinic prioritizes herbal medicine science from upstream to downstream. From ethnopharmotological research of medicinal and jami plants, preservation of post-harvest cultivation, clinical research on herbal management technology, training on herbal science and technology, science and technology services, and cementation to increasing community independence," said Terawan in an event some time ago.
