Open Doors And Walk To Wings As Plane Glides On Runway, This Passenger Is Immediately Arrested By Police

JAKARTA - A male passenger was arrested by the police for opening an emergency door and walking to the wing while the plane was sliding down the runway, causing him to face charges.

The man then slid down the wing to the apron, to then 'try' to guide the plane to the terminal at Chicago's O'Hare Airport, United States last week, as reported by The National News from the Associated Press May 6.

Later, the man, who is known to be from Escondido, California and boarded flight 2478 from San Diego, said Chicago Police had been arrested and detained. He has been charged with reckless conduct.

Police said the incident occurred at around 4.31am local time, when the jet was approaching the gate in Terminal 1. Meanwhile, the airline said crew members stopped passengers outside the plane.

"A man was on the plane approaching the gate when he pulled the emergency exit and walked to the wing of the plane," CNN reported, according to Chicago Police.

"The subject then slid down the wing and onto the airfield. The airline said police later arrived and took him into custody, charged with waiting for the man.

When the plane arrived at the terminal gates, all passengers left the plane safely, said a statement from the airline.

"This morning United flight 2478 was zooming towards the gate at Chicago O'Hare when a passenger opened the aircraft door and exited the aircraft," the statement said.

"Our ground crew stopped the person off the plane, and the person is now in the hands of law enforcement. The plane then arrived at the gates and all passengers disembarked safely. The safety of our customers and crew is our highest priority."
