Mortars Found By Fishermen From Cirebon Were Destroyed In The Rice Fields, Police: The Location Is Guaranteed To Be Safe

CIREBON - Police destroyed a box containing mortars found by three fishermen from Cirebon in the waters of Indramayu Regency, West Java.

The destruction was carried out by members of the Cirebon City Police Resort and the Explosives Disposal Unit Battalion C, West Java Police Mobile Brigade Unit.

"We destroyed the crates containing mortars," said Cirebon City Police Chief, AKBP Fahri Siregar, in Cirebon, West Java, Friday, May 13.

According to him, the destruction was to ensure that the crates filled with mortars did not endanger the public, especially the fishermen who found them.

For that, they destroyed the ammunition in a location far from the community, namely in the rice field area of Kalisapu Village, Gunungjati District, Cirebon Regency, which was chosen based on careful consideration, including suggestions and input from local community leaders.

"The location is certain to be safe, because the explosion during the annihilation does not disturb the surrounding community," he said.

In addition, it is also ensured that the extermination process will not cause damage to residents' homes or endanger community activities.

He said the officers of the Explosives Disposal Unit immediately went down to evacuate the mortars stored on fishing boats to the location of destruction using complete equipment.

"We make sure the extermination process from start to finish is in accordance with the SOP from the Jihandak Unit, so that its safety is ensured," he said.
