122 Cattle In Malang Regency Infected With Nail Mouth Disease
MALANG - A total of 122 cows spread across four sub-districts in Malang Regency, East Java, were reported to be infected with Mouth and Nail Disease (FMD). four sub-districts namely Ngantang, Singosari, Wajak and Gondanglegi sub-districts. "Until now there are around 122 tails (affected by FMD), they are scattered in Ngantang, Singosari Wajak and Gondanglegi," said Nurcahyo as quoted by Antara, Friday, May 13. Nurcahyo explained the case. FMD in livestock mostly occurs in the Ngantang District. In that sub-district there were 102 cows that were infected with FMD from the total population of cattle in the area which reached 18,500 heads. According to him, the cows that were infected with FMD were spread out in RT 11, 12, 14 and 16 Hamlet Sumbermulyo, and Hamlet Bendorejo, Sumberagung Village. . In Sumbermulyo Hamlet, there are as many as 92 cows infected with FMD. Of the hundreds of cattle affected by FMD, based on reports received so far, 15-16 have recovered. The cattle were given medicine and antibiotics by the breeders. "Actually, many have recovered, but the data that comes to us is that there are about 15-16 recovered. They are spread over four sub-districts," he said.
The findings of FMD cases in livestock are currently in four sub-districts out of a total of 33 sub-districts in the Malang Regency area. He asked the existing breeders to continue to monitor livestock so they are not exposed to FMD. Until now, he continued, there have been no reports of livestock that died and were forcibly slaughtered due to contracting FMD. There is one report of dead livestock in the Malang Regency area, but it has not been confirmed that it has contracted FMD. he said. Malang Regency is one of the centers for cattle farming. It was recorded that there were 243,000 beef cattle and 86,000 dairy cows spread across 33 sub-districts in the region.
