Debut At PSG Goes Hard, Gianluigi Donnarumma Has No Intention Of "running Away"
JAKARTA - The Italian goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma, admits that his first season at Paris Saint-Germain did not go smoothly. However, the former AC Milan player has no intention of leaving.
"I want to stay at PSG. I am happy with my first trophy with this shirt. I am very proud to be part of this club, which is very ambitious and always aims higher," he said.
"When I arrived I didn't feel any pressure, although it wasn't easy to adapt," Donnarumma continued.
Donnarumma was brought in by PSG from AC Milan at the start of the 2021/2022 season. He is predicted to be the main goalkeeper for Les Parisiens after his brilliant performances in recent years.
However, Donnarumma had to swallow a bitter pill. He several times had to settle for sitting on the bench because he was unable to compete with Keylor Navas.
Not only that, he also became the target of ridicule by PSG fans for making a fatal blunder when his club was eliminated by Real Madrid in the Champions League.
"It has not been an easy season. I know I can do more. I played half a game and couldn't give my best, but I believe I can give a lot more for this club," said Donnarumma.
Donnarumma did not want to give up. He feels confident, there will be no more sharing a place with Keylor Navas next season.
The Italian national team goalkeeper believes that PSG will make a decision about who will be the first choice. He was sure that the choice fell on him.
"The club will make a choice. I have a good relationship with Keylor, we are two good people, we understand the situation, but it is also difficult for him," said Donnarumma.
