BLACKPINK, The First Girl Group To Top The Billboard Artist 100

JAKARTA - BLACKPINK soared to the top of the Billboard Artist 100 chart after releasing their first full-length album, THE ALBUM. On the music chart dated October 17, BLACKPINK rose from No. 65 last week to take the No. 1 position.

BLACKPINK is now the first girl group to top this music chart, since its launch in 2004. They are also the third Korean artist to have done so, following BTS and SuperM.

The Billboard Artist 100 chart is described as a measure of artist activity across key metrics for music consumption, a combination of album and song sales, radio playback, streaming, and social media fan interaction to provide a weekly multi-dimensional ranking of artist popularity.

BLACKPINK's soaring on the music charts is due to the release of their first full album THE ALBUM on October 2nd. The album features the title track Lovesick Girls, their collaboration with Selena Gomez titled Ice Cream, and more.

THE ALBUM debuts at No. 2 Billboard 200 this week, which is the benchmark for the most popular album in the United States. BLACKPINK also has two songs on the Hot 100 chart; Lovesick Girls in No. 59 and Ice Cream at No. 64.

Meanwhile, Lovesick Girls occupies No. 2 on Billboard's Global 200 chart, which is based on sales and streaming data from more than 200 regions worldwide. The song also debuted at No. 1 on the US Global Excl chart, which ranks songs according to data from regions other than the United States.

On the World Albums chart, THE ALBUM debuted at No. 1. Lovesick Girls also entered the World Digital Song Sales chart at the top, while their b-sides Pretty Savage and You Never Know grabbed No. 2 and No. 4.

Lovesick Girls debut at No. 9 on the Digital Song Sales and No. 46 on the Streaming Songs chart. This song is also No. 29 on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100, while THE ALBUM occupies No. 5 on the Billboard Canadian Album chart.

Congratulations to BLACKPINK!
