"The Sureq Marasa Silk Weaving is made using a hand-made process and woven with traditional tools, all of which are done by human labor, so it has a high selling value," said the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy in his written statement, Thursday, May 12.
Sureq Marasa fabric consists of a combination of 3 sureq. The first is Kalumpang, Sambuq Mamasa, and Saqbe Mandar.
The purpose of Sureq Marasa was made as an effort to preserve and promote the three superior fabrics of West Sulawesi which are the heritage of their ancestors.
In his statement, Sandiaga said that Sureq Marasa cloth is one of the creative economy products that can improve the community's economy, especially craftsmen, which are mostly made by women from the coastal areas of West Sulawesi.
