Suzuki Opens Voice About Plans To Withdraw From MotoGP, The Cause Is Beyond Guess

JAKARTA - Suzuki Racing has finally spoken about the news of leaving MotoGP after the season ended. Through its official website, Suzuki Racing finally mentioned the reason they took the plan.

However, this is not a final decision. Suzuki is still discussing with MotoGP regarding this plan.

"Suzuki Motor Corporation is in discussion with Dorna regarding the possibility of ending its participation in MotoGP at the end of 2022," the Hamamatsu-based manufacturer said in a statement on their website.

It turned out that the economic conditions were not so favorable for the company as a whole to be one of the factors behind this decision.

"Unfortunately, the current economic situation and the need to concentrate efforts on the major changes facing the automotive world in recent years, forced Suzuki to shift costs and human resources to develop new technologies," they said.

"We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the Suzuki Ecstar team, to all those who have supported Suzuki motorcycle racing activities over the years and to all the Suzuki fans who have given us enthusiastic support," the statement continued.

This is not the first time Suzuki has left the most prestigious race. In 2011, they did the same thing before deciding to return in 2015.

This announcement certainly has an impact on their two drivers, namely Joan Mir and Alex Rins. Mir is likely to be a tandem for Marc Marquez at Honda this season to replace Pol Espargaro.

Meanwhile, a more dire situation will be faced by Rins. The Spaniard is likely to be confused about finding a new team because the available empty seat slots are very minimal.
