Firmino's 'Confession' To Klopp After The Reds Hit Spurs

JAKARTA - Liverpool extended their unbeaten streak in the Premier League by beating Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 in London, Sunday, January 12. The only goal for the Reds' victory was scored by Roberto Firmino

The Brazilian forward was indeed the only goal scorer that determined the victory of Jurgen Klopp's squad, but he delivered a 'confession' to his coach after the whistle to signal the match was over. Firmino said he should have scored more goals.

"When I came to him to hug him after the final whistle, he stopped and spoke first," Klopp said in a press conference session reported by Liverpool's official website.

"He said, 'I know I should have scored more goals', but that's not what I wanted to say," he added.

Klopp then corrected his statement and then agreed with what Firmino had said to him.

He was referring to the opportunities Liverpool got three minutes after the game started.

"Maybe he should have scored the first time, it was a good attack but then his shot was cleared and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain hit the post," he said.

However, Klopp still praised Firmino's performance and contribution in the win.

"He is a super player. This is not the first time I have said it, but hopefully not the last time either," concluded Klopp.

Firmino's goal ensures Liverpool have now collected 61 points at the top of the Premier League standings and are 16 points ahead of their closest competitor, Leicester City, who at the same time lost 1-2 to Southampton.
