Jack Dorsey Doesn't Want Twitter CEO Position Again Despite Elon Musk's Request

JAKARTA - The founder of Twitter Inc., Jack Dorsey, on Wednesday, May 11 stated that he did not want to take over again the leadership of the social media company. He also hinted at his limited involvement if Elon Musk succeeds in closing the microblogging platform takeover deal.

According to Refinitiv, Dorsey currently heads payments firm Block Inc, owning a 2.4% stake in Twitter.

Since Twitter's board accepted Musk's $44 billion buyout offer on April 25, there has been little clarity about the company's new leadership after the deal closed.

Reuters reported on April 29 that Musk had planned to appoint a new chief executive, to replace Parag Agrawal, Twitter's current CEO. Meanwhile, there are also reports that the CEO of Tesla Inc. will temporarily take over the top spot until he appoints Twitter's definitive leader.

Dorsey has experienced a lot of turmoil as head of the social media company. He was briefly replaced as CEO of Twitter in 2008. This happened, two years after he launched the service.

But he took over the top spot again in 2015 before ceding the role to chief technology officer Parag Agarwal late last year.

Meanwhile, recent regulatory filings suggest that Musk is in talks with Dorsey to donate his stake to the proposed acquisition.
