This Is The Key To Syabda Perkasa Between Indonesia And A Dramatic Win Over Korea In The 2022 Thomas Cup

JAKARTA – Badminton player Syabda Perkasa Belawa revealed the secret that made him take Indonesia to the quarter-finals as group winner of the 2022 Thomas Cup.

Syabda won three sets of 21-14, 11-21, 21-16 over Lee Yun Gyu on Wednesday, May 11 evening WIB. This achievement gave Indonesia a narrow 3-2 lead while maintaining the top position in Group A.

"When I fell behind 6-11 in the third game, I just thought, if I lose, I've already lost. But I am determined I don't want to just give up in the middle of the field. I just keep trying," said Syabda in a written statement.

When competing, the 636th ranked badminton player in the world received full support from his teammates on the sidelines

They are seniors such as Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo, Hendra Setiawan, and Mohammad Ahsan. That support apparently played an important role when Syabda was left behind in the third set.

"Moreover, my seniors and idols continue to support me from the sidelines. The support is extraordinary. They fully support me. I don't want to give up," said Syabda.

"[They] shouted from the sidelines supporting me, I continued to fight. I didn't think about anything, just kept fighting and didn't hesitate like the second game that made me lose," he continued.

Syabda's victory made Indonesia wipe out all matches in the group stage. Previously, Hendra and his friends had won over Thailand and Singapore.

"I am happy and grateful that I was able to win and was able to contribute the decisive points to Indonesia's victory over Korea 3-2. The match was tense and there was pressure, because I appeared for the first time in a big event like the Thomas Cup and appeared in the deciding party again," said Syabda.

Tim Thomas came as the defending champion in this most prestigious men's team event. For that, they are targeted to be able to defend the title they won last year after defeating China.
