Minister Of Home Affairs To Inaugurate 5 Acting Governors
JAKARTA - The Secretary General (Sekjen) of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Suhajar Diantoro, said that there would be the inauguration of five acting governors on Thursday, May 12.
"God willing, five officials will be sworn in tomorrow," said Suhajar at the Vice Presidential Palace, Jakarta, as reported by Antara, Wednesday, May 11.
Based on the information gathered, five acting governors will be sworn in, including the Director General of Regional Autonomy at the Ministry of Home Affairs Akmal Malik as the Acting Governor of West Sulawesi, the Deputy for Management of Potential Border Areas of the National Border Management Agency (BNPP) of the Ministry of Home Affairs Komjen Paulus Waterpauw as the Acting Governor of West Papua. and Banten Secretary Al Muktabar as the Acting Governor of Banten.
"We will be there tomorrow, after the inauguration, we will communicate," said Suhajar when asked about the mechanism for selecting the acting governor.
The mechanism will be explained directly by the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian.
A total of 101 regional heads in 2022 ended their terms of office consisting of 7 governors, 76 regents, and 18 mayors.
Of these, 5 governors expired in May 2022, namely Banten Governor Wahidin Halim, Gorontalo Governor Rusli Habibie, Bangka Belitung Islands Governor Erzaldi Rosman Djohan, West Sulawesi Governor Ali Baal Masdar Anwar; and West Papua Governor Dominggus Mandacan.
Previously, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian emphasized that the acting regional heads who will fill the vacancies of regional heads ahead of the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada still have strategic authority.
Based on Government Regulation (PP) Number 6 of 2005 concerning the Election, Ratification of the Appointment and Dismissal of Regional Heads and Deputy Regional Heads, they are only prohibited from doing 4 things, namely prohibited from making mutations, prohibited from taking policies that conflict with previous officials, prohibited from carrying out expansion that does not the same as state policy, and are prohibited from making decisions that have been the decisions of previous officials.
