Discontinued, The 2020 IBL Competition Is Official Without A Champion
JAKARTA - The national basketball competition, the Indonesian Basketball League (IBL) 2020 season, has officially stopped. This decision was taken after seeing the developing condition.
The organizers see it is impossible to continue the IBL 2020 competition amid the pandemic. Moreover, there has been a statement from the police not to issue a permit for the crowd.
Apart from stopping the competition, the IBL operator also decided there would be no winner in the 2020 competition. The club ranking was not announced because the number of matches for each club when the competition was not the same.
However, IBL still calculates and records all results and achievements in the 2020 season competition. This calculation is important for determining the ranking of players in each club.
"This competition is not canceled, it just can't be continued," said the IBL's Managing Director, Junas Miradiarsyah.
For player statistics, IBL will still announce it based on the calculation of the efficiency value achieved by the players. Later, the calculation will be used to determine the best individual award.
"Individual awards will be announced on 18 October," said Junas.
The IBL operator reportedly will hold a meeting with the club in the near future. This meeting was to discuss the agenda for the preparation of the 2021 IBL competition.
