Online Lecture While Breastfeeding Is Prohibited, This Mother Attacks Lecturers Through Social Media

JAKARTA - A mother felt humiliated when her lecturer forbade her to breastfeed her child while studying online . While learning from home, Marcella Mares was told that breastfeeding a baby during class was absolutely inappropriate.

Even though she said she would turn off the camera while her child was breastfeeding, the lecturer didn't give permission.

To fight for her right to feed children, the California-based student wrote on Facebook.

“I don't want to post this picture just because I want it for me, but I just want to show that I CAN focus in class WHILE breastfeeding my child.

"My professor changed class requirements and said we needed to turn on the camera and microphone to receive credit for class attendance."

Marcella continued: “I told her I obviously had no problem with my camera and microphone, but I might need to turn them off to feed my daughter from time to time.

“The response was' that's not what you should be doing during class. Do it on your own. "

“I didn't respond and went to class about half an hour later.

“The first thing he said to the whole class in our zoom meeting was' I got this weird email from a student saying he needed to do things that were inappropriate during college time.

"'You need to understand that now you have priorities and you have to put all those distractions aside or be creative when your child needs you and give your full attention in my class.'"

Marcella's post continues: “If you know me, you know how much this pissed me off.

“Sending emails telling me what I can and cannot do at home with my child is one thing.

“But it was another thing when he announced 'weird' emails received about 'inappropriate' things.

"I am humiliated. Then I realized he must be humiliated.

"He discriminated against me and a lot of other people when he said 'put the distraction aside or be creative when your child needs you' - what is this like ?!"

Marcella concluded: “This is a child we are talking about, not about our cell phones or TV or anything else.

“I am very happy that my cousin helped me take action with this… I hope this man thinks before deciding to continue his career, if he still has another career.

“Breastfeeding mothers and any mother who tries to juggle school, work and a child should be praised not humiliated and humiliated.

"I love my baby and will choose his health over anything or anyone, any day of the week!"

The mother's post went viral on Facebook, which received over 700 likes and hundreds of positive comments.
