Police Arrest 2 Young KPU Website Hackers With Indecent Images

SURABAYA - Subdit Cyber Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimsus) East Java Regional Police revealed the perpetrator who hacked the official website of the General Election Commission (KPU) of Jember Regency. The two suspects are DA (23) and ZFR (14).

"So, after the two suspects broke into the KPU website, they immediately uploaded indecent images," said Head of Public Relations of the East Java Regional Police, Kombes Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, at the East Java Regional Police Headquarters, Surabaya, Tuesday, October 13.

Truno said the DA suspect was secured in South Sumatra, while the ZFR was secured in Serang, Banten. According to Truno, both of them have experienced hacking websites, from within the country to abroad.

"So, these two suspects are experienced, and often hack," he said.

The Director of Criminal and Criminal Investigation of the East Java Regional Police, Kombes Gidion Arif Setiawan, added that the case was revealed after the Jember KPU reported a hacking on his official website some time ago. "Hacked by (pairing) indecent images," said Gidion.

Cyber officers then carried out a search and it was found out who carried out the hacking, namely DA and ZFR. Both were then arrested and processed at the East Java Regional Police. For DA, said Gidion, investigators were detaining. Meanwhile, ZFR was returned to their parents because they were underage. "But the process (investigation for ZFR) continues," he said.

Gidion emphasized that DA and ZFR know each other on Facebook. DA himself is part of the Palembang Cyber Team community. In this case, the DA played a role in breaking into the Jember KPU website security system. The account access was then given to ZFR and an indecent image was posted.

"This is only the existence of the perpetrator and the economic motive, because from this (action) the account is then sold to someone else," he said.

The investigators charged the two suspects with Article 32 paragraph 1 and / or Article 33 in conjunction with Article 48 Paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 49 of Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions in conjunction with Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning Amendments to Law -Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions.
