Quota Of 109 Hajj Candidates From Bangka

BANGKA - The Office of the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) of Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, stated that the quota for the 2022 hajj pilgrims was set at 109 people.

Head of the Bangka Regency Ministry of Religion's Office, Seniadi in Sungailiat, Wednesday said the quota for pilgrims who had already set a schedule for going to the Holy Land of Mecca was 109 people, consisting of male and female pilgrims.

He said the previously determined number of hajj candidates was 270 people but due to age restrictions imposed by the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the final number was only 109 people.

"The government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia only allows Hajj candidates with a maximum age of 65 years, thus forcing a reduction in the number of pilgrims whose age is above the stipulated age," he explained, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, May 11.

According to him, the departure of Indonesian hajj candidates to the Holy Land of Mecca on June 4, 2022, and the next haj candidates from Bangka Belitung will be included in the flying group.

"I suggest that all hajj candidates can maintain good health so they don't experience problems when they leave until they return to the country," he said.

Meanwhile, one of the Hajj candidates Siraman said he was grateful to be able to go to worship to the Holy Land of Mecca which had been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The initial schedule for leaving for Mecca is in 2020, but due to the pandemic conditions, departure is delayed and hopefully leaving for Hajj this year will have no problems," said Siraman, who claimed to be a candidate for Hajj on a waiting list of 11 years.

He said all stages of departure to the Holy Land of Mecca had been completed, including the mandatory requirements for the meningitis vaccine for Hajj, just waiting for the complete facilities from the Ministry of Religion such as Hajj suitcases, ritual exercises.
