Steven Gerrard Says Ahead Of Aston Villa Vs Liverpool: I Respect The Coach And Coaching Staff Of The Reds

JAKARTA - Aston Villa coach Steven Gerrard said the match against Liverpool in the 33rd postponed week of the Premier League at Villa Park Stadium, Birmingham, Wednesday morning WIB, was a big challenge.

Quoted by Antara from the club's official website on Tuesday, Gerrard said Liverpool are a world-class team and arguably the best team in the world right now so he wants Aston Villa to be aware of this.

"I have spoken several times about how I respect the Liverpool coach and coaching staff," said Gerrard.

"You're scared of it or you put your shoulders back and try and take it and find situations where you can have your moment in the game."

The English coach continued to assess, Aston Villa had the opportunity to give Liverpool difficulties and he hoped that would happen in the match later.

"We are well aware of the size of tomorrow's challenge, but I can't wait and look forward to it. Big football matches are everything," said Gerrard.

Regarding ending the season in the top 10 of the Premier League, Gerrard said he was quite proud of Aston Villa's achievements so far after he arrived midway through the competition.

According to him, there have been developments that have occurred since he arrived at Villa Park where Aston Villa are in 16th position in the standings and only a few points from the relegation zone.

"The first task is to move the team to safety, first and foremost. Now we are in a place with four games to go where there is a possibility to finish in the top ten and I think that would be a very positive thing considering the club hasn't done that for a decade. ' explained Gerrard.

Currently, Aston Villa are in 11th position in the standings with 43 points from 34 matches and only one point adrift of Crystal Palace who are in 10th place.
