Baby From Solok Dies With Symptoms Similar To Mysterious Hepatitis, West Sumatra Health Office Wants To Make Sure It Goes Through An Examination

PADANG - A baby from Solok Regency, West Sumatra (West Sumatra) died with symptoms similar to mysterious hepatitis. The West Sumatra Health Service has not confirmed the cause of death due to mysterious hepatitis because the sample is still mysterious.

"It has not been confirmed because of the mysterious hepatitis. This is still a suspect because to confirm it needs further examination," said Head of the West Sumatra Health Service, Lila Yanwar in Padang, Antara, Tuesday, May 10.

Prior to further examination, the exposed infant had already died. "We just got a new examination from the Indonesian Pediatrician Association a few days ago,"

"The symptoms are similar to hepatitis A, but the laboratory tests are not suitable, so we call it hepatitis unknown etiology," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of IDAI West Sumatra, Finny Fitry Yani, said that the baby's status was still pending or suspended because the cause could not be ascertained.

He said the symptoms of the mysterious hepatitis included fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and gastrointestinal disturbances so that the body turned yellow. But the mode of transmission is still uncertain.

Previously, a two-year-old baby from Solok Regency died, allegedly due to mysterious hepatitis. The baby was referred to the RSUD and then treated at the Hermina Padang Hospital, but died on May 2, 2022.
