Bengkulu Bag Bomb Terror And Alleged Links To The Pilkades

JAKARTA - A homemade bomb in a bag exploded at 06.40 WIB this morning. The explosion was in Padang Serunaian Village, Semidang Alas District, Seluma Regency, Bengkulu Province.

This was confirmed by the Head of Bengkulu Police Public Relations AKBP Sudarno. "It is true that a bomb exploded in Bengkulu," said Sudarno when he was confirmed, Saturday, January 11.

The bomb injured a resident of Padang Serunaian village named Halidin. This 60 year old man found a bag filled with a bomb in front of his house.

"At that time, brother Halidin wanted to open the door and saw that there was a bag in front of the door. After opening it, the bag (containing the bomb) suddenly exploded," said Sudarno.

It was later discovered that Halidin was the parent of the village head of Padang Serunaian. The police suspect that the motive for placing the bag containing the bomb in front of the victim's house was due to the interests of the local village head election (Pilkades) contest.

"This case alleged that there was a problem during the Pilkades, but we are still investigating all possibilities," he said.

Sudarno said that the bomb explosion did not bring Halidin's life to life. The bomb only injured Halidin's leg. Sudarno said that this bomb explosion was low explosive.

Halidin was taken to the Bhayangkara Bengkulu Hospital. His condition started to improve. Currently, the police are investigating whether there was any involvement of terrorists in the explosion case that occurred this morning in Bengkulu.

"Still working on the crime scene," he said
