LA Lakers Dedicate NBA Champion Title To Kobe Bryant
JAKARTA - The Los Angeles Lakers are presenting the 2020 NBA title for the late Kobe Bryant, who died with his daughter Gianna in a helicopter crash in January.
The LA Lakers won the NBA Finals 4-2 after beating the Miami Heat 106-93 on Monday CET at AdventHealth, Orlando, Florida. The victory is the 17th NBA title as well as marking their success back into champions since 2010 when Kobe Bryant was still strengthened.
“Kobe, I know he must be looking at us with great pride. We miss him and this (the NBA title) for him, "said LA Lakers Forward Anthony David, as quoted by Antara , Tuesday.
A similar belief was conveyed by LA Lakers General Manager Rob Pelinka, who said that Kobe Bryant had all this season guided the team to lift the championship trophy again.
“I think Kobe and Gianna have guided this team throughout the year. The voice of Kobe is always in my head, always, every day, ”said Pelinka.
"We will remember Kobe and Gianna forever. "The Lakers' victory in the 2020 NBA is in their honor," he added.
Frank Vogel's team previously had to miss the opportunity to win the title when wearing the Black Mamba edition jersey in the fifth game of the NBA Finals.
Regardless of the jersey worn, Markieff Morris stated that the success of the LA Lakers would still belong to Kobe Bryant and Gianna.
Meanwhile Lakers guard Rajon Rondo, who also won the NBA title with the Boston Celtics in 2008, said he was happy to be part of the Lakers and learned a lot from the legend.
"Presenting the victory to Kobe was already on my mind," said Rondo.
