Manchester City 5-0 Newcastle United, Pep Guardiola Underestimates Liverpool: They've Only Won One Title In 30 Years

JAKARTA - Manchester City recorded a 5-0 victory when they hosted Newcastle United at the Etihad Stadium in the 36th week of the 2021/2022 English League, Sunday, May 8 evening WIB. The Citizens' victory brought the team closer to the title.

The three points obtained thanks to the victory over Newcastle have made Manchester City increasingly firmly at the top of the standings with 86 points. Now, The Citizens are three points ahead of Liverpool who are stuck in second position with 83 points.

This advantage makes Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, boast. According to him, Liverpool do not have a good history of being able to win the English Premier League trophy.

"A week ago, no one saw this (we will be champions). Everyone in this country supports Liverpool, the media and everyone," Guardiola said, quoting Goal International.

"Of course, Liverpool have an extraordinary history in Europe. However, not in the Premier League because they have only won one Premier League title in 30 years," continued the former Barcelona coach.

For Guardiola, the remaining three games will be very important in determining the 2021/2022 Premier League title. The man from Spain asked The Citizens to be serious in taking full points in the three matches.

"It depends what will happen over the next two games. Wednesday (against Wolves) is a real final for us. Our fate is in our hands, and this is important," said Guardiola.

After the match against Newcastle United, Manchester City will take on Wolverhampton Wanderes on Thursday, 12 May. Three days later, Kevin De Bruyne and his friends will be hosted by West Ham United.

In the last match, Manchester City will meet Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium on 15 May.
