54 Demonstrators Of Job Creation Law In Jakarta Become Suspects, 28 People Arrested
JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya again detained 21 riot suspects in a demonstration against the ratification of the Job Creation Law. Thus, the total detained was 28 people.
Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Nana Sudjana said that his party decided to carry out a detention based on the results of the case title.
"A total of 54 people have been named as suspects and 28 of them have been detained," Nana told reporters, Monday, October 12.
In addition, said Nana, the detention was carried out because they were deemed to have fulfilled the criminal element with a prison sentence of more than five years. Based on preliminary evidence, they are deemed to have damaged public facilities as well as those belonging to the Police.
Meanwhile, the rest were not detained because they were still under the general public. Thus, they are returned to their respective parents.
"We send the majority of students and them home on condition that their parents come and make a statement," he said.
According to Nana, it is possible that the number of suspects will continue to increase. This is because the team is still investigating and investigating cases of vandalism of several public facilities.
"We continue to make efforts that we believe there are still many anarchist perpetrators who set fire to these public facilities," he said.
Those who were detained were suspected with multiple articles, including Article 212 of the Criminal Code, Article 218 of the Criminal Code, Article 170 and Article 406 of the Criminal Code.
