Sleepy, Toyota Avanza Driver Dies After Hitting Resident's Wall

JAKARTA - The Traffic Directorate of the Aceh Police stated that one person left the world and eight people were injured after the car they were traveling in crashed into a concrete fence of a resident's house in Aceh Besar District.

Traffic Director of the Aceh Police, Kombes Pol. Dicky Sondani, in Banda Aceh, Saturday, said the single accident was suspected to have been caused by the driver falling asleep.

"The accident occurred on Jalan Banda Aceh-Medan, Capeung Baroh Village, Seulimeum District, Aceh Besar Regency. The victim died on behalf of Muhardi, aged 52," said Pol Kombes Dicky Sondani, quoting Antara, Saturday, May 7.

Kombes Dicky Sondani said the traffic accident began when a Toyota Avanza car with police number BL 1535 C drove from Medan to Banda Aceh.

"Arriving at the scene of the accident, the driver fell asleep and lost control, crashing into the wall of a resident's house," said the Aceh Regional Police middle officer.

According to Dicky, during the Idul Fitri holiday, many vehicles had accidents due to driver error, including fatigue and drowsiness.

Therefore, Dicky Sondani constantly urges people who travel during the Eid holidays to be more careful and keep safety first.

Moreover, continued Dicky, the peak of Lebaran holiday backflow will last for the next 2 days, which is accompanied by an increase in vehicles, especially on the east coast of Aceh.

"Increase alertness when driving. If you are sleepy or not fit, you should rest at the nearest Eid security posts," he said.
