Dozens Of Bus Drivers Undergo Urine Checks, So Passengers Are Comfortable And Safe

JAKARTA - Dozens of bus drivers and crew at Surabaya's Purabaya Terminal in Sidoarjo, East Java, underwent urine tests. The activity, which was held by the Sidoarjo Police, was carried out as an effort to provide comfort and safety for passengers during the return flow of Lebaran 2022.

Sidoarjo Police Chief Kombes Pol Kusumo Wahyu Bintoro in Sidoarjo said that due to the hectic backflow of Lebaran, the Sidoarjo Narcotics Satres together with the East Java Police Biddokkes conducted urine tests on bus drivers at the Purabaya Terminal Integrated Post.

"Urine tests at the Purabaya Terminal will be carried out randomly until May 8, 2022," said Kombes Kusumo Wahyu Bintoro, citing Antara, Saturday, May 7.

In today's urine test, Bintoro said, none of the bus drivers or crew were positive for taking drugs or other illegal drugs.

He said the activity was aimed at realizing traffic safety and providing a sense of security and comfort for the community, especially bus passengers on the return trip for Eid.

“Random urine tests were carried out in these two days. The hope is to ensure that the bus drivers and crew who serve the homecoming trip are in good health and are not indicated for drug use," said Kusumo.

He also said, if in the implementation there are bus drivers and crew who are positive for drugs, they will be coordinated with the bus PO so that the person concerned does not continue his journey.

"Then further investigation will be carried out by the Narcotics Satres of the Sidoarjo Police," he said.
