PT KAI: Long-distance Train Occupancy Full Return 100 Percent Until May 8
JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (VOI) reported that the volume of long-distance train customers on the return flow from 6 to 8 May 2022 reached 389,812 customers or an average of 129,937 customers per day with 106 percent occupancy.
It was stated that on the departure of May 6 (D+3) there were 136,505 customers (111 percent occupancy) served by KAI to various destinations. Then on May 7 (D+4) there were 129,564 customers (101 percent occupancy) and May 8 (D+5) there were 123,743 customers (101 percent occupancy).
KAI's VP of Public Relations Joni Martinus said the number of passengers arriving at Pasar Senen Station on 6 to 8 May 2022 totaled 45,242 customers with an average volume of 15,081 customers per day.
"The majority of these customers depart from Kutoarjo, Purwokerto, Lempuyangan, and Surabaya Pasarturi stations," he said in a press statement quoted on Saturday, May 7.
According to Joni, trains arriving at Gambir Station in the same period totaled 44,766 customers with an average volume of 14,922 customers per day. Meanwhile, the majority of these customers departed from Bandung, Cirebon, Yogyakarta, and Semarang Tawang stations.
"In total, the arrivals in the Jakarta area on May 5 were 38,963 people and on May 6 there were 39,660 people. This amount is the accumulation of purchasing long-distance train tickets with the final destination of Gambir Station, Pasar Senen, Jakarta Kota, Jatinegara, Bekasi, and Cikampek," he said.
Furthermore, Joni said that if KAI faced the backflow density, it would operate 214 train trips on D+3, up 5 percent compared to the beginning of the Eid transportation period on D-10, which was 204 train trips.
He said the available seating capacity also increased 9 percent to 122,861 seats per day.
"Another readiness that KAI has made is by continuously alerting postal officers for services and security, both internally and externally," he stressed.
Joni added, for people who have not received a return ticket on these dates, they can buy tickets on the departure of May 9 and so on.
"There are still quite a lot of return tickets available for departures on May 9 and so on," he said.
For information, KAI has set the Lebaran transportation period, which is D-10 to D+10 or April 22 to May 13, 2022.
Meanwhile, as of May 6, KAI had sold 2,192,032 long-distance train tickets or 83 percent of the total tickets provided.
As for the period H-10 to H+2 or May 5, KAI has served 1,514,554 customers or an average of 108,182 customers per day with an average occupancy of 90 percent.
"KAI urges customers to be able to manage the time by not arriving too early to the departure station. This is to anticipate the density of customers at departure stations," concluded Joni.
