Friends Actor Mike Hagerty Passes Away
JAKARTA - Actor Mike Hagerty, who is known for his role as a building supervisor named Mr. Treeger in the sitcom Friends, died in Los Angeles, United States, at the age of 67 years.
Bridget Everett, who played Hagerty's daughter in the series Somebody Somewhere, shared the sad news via her Instagram account on Friday local time.
"I loved Mike as soon as I met him. He was very special. Warm, funny, never met a stranger. Our feelings are broken at his death," the actress wrote next to posting a series of photos with Hagerty quoted by Antara, Saturday.
Television network HBO, which airs Somebody Somewhere, said it was sorry to hear of the sudden death of Mike Hagerty. According to HBO, Hagerty's final role in Somebody Somewhere demonstrated her special talent for playing the character.
"Mike loved working with his project and bringing warmth and kindness to everyone who knew him. We extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends," HBO told The Hollywood Reporter, quoted Saturday.
Hagerty began her acting career in 1973 in the adventure film The Timber Tramps, then appeared throughout the 80s and 90s on TV shows including Cheers, Crime Story, Married With Children, Family Ties, Murphy Brown and The Wonder Years.
He played the character Finley in the comedy series The Building and later appeared in Star Trek: The Next Generation, Seinfeld, and The George Carlin Show. In 1995, Hagerty played an unforgettable role as Mr. building superintendent. Treeger in several episodes of Friends.
Among Hollywood figures who paid their last respects via social media included film director and writer Jay Duplass, who wrote on Twitter that Hagerty was both an actor and a great man.
