2 Construction Workers In Kudus Died Under Landslides

JAKARTA - Two construction workers in Soco Village, Dawe District, Kudus Regency, Central Java, died as a result of being buried by landslide materials while building a resident's house.

The Head of Soco Village, Lilik Ekowati, confirmed that the landslide incident that occurred in RT003 / 01 of Soco Village and two workers were buried by landslides.

At the time of the incident, he said, there were indeed four workers who were working on the construction of the foundations for houses in local villages.

Due to this incident, landowners who wanted to build a house were asked to find another location that was safer because it was currently entering the rainy season so it was prone to landslides.

Ainun Naim, one of the residents of Soco Village, revealed that the landslide incident that hit the two construction workers was estimated to have occurred at 10.30 WIB.

The incident, he continued, began when two victims and two friends worked to build the foundation for the terraces of local villagers' houses.

"Suddenly, a 10 meter high cliff, which is located close to the house to be built, experienced a landslide and hit two construction workers who did not have time to save themselves," he said when confirmed as quoted by Antara, Monday, October 12.

The two construction workers, namely Riyan (19) and M. Najib (20), are both residents of Soco Village.

Before the landslide occurred, there were construction workers who felt a vibration from a 10 meter high cliff on which there were also houses.

For this incident, the BPBD team, police and TNI were evacuated together with local residents and brought in heavy equipment in the form of a loader. At around 11.30 WIB, the two victims were finally successfully evacuated and were found dead.

The bodies of the two victims were then handed over to their respective families.
