Governor Of South Sulawesi Instructs Traffic Engineering To Unravel Backflow Congestion
MAKASSAR - Governor of South Sulawesi Andi Sudirman Sulaiman instructed related agencies together with the police to be able to carry out traffic engineering, especially in areas or congestion points during the 2022 return flow.
Andi Sudirman Sulaiman said traffic engineering could be in the form of implementing a one-way and contra flow system, regulating bus and truck operating hours on certain roads and routes.
"The important points are the points of vulnerability and we also prohibit some trucks from passing through on this back and forth flow. During peak times, we will prohibit large cars in certain access areas," he explained, quoted by Antara, Friday, May 6.
The governor has held a coordination meeting with various parties to anticipate the peak of backflow in the area which is predicted to occur on 7 to 8 May 2022.
The Governor of South Sulawesi also reminded him to anticipate the surge in vehicles entering/exiting airports, terminals and tourist attractions.
Meanwhile, the South Sulawesi Police Chief Inspector General Nana Sudjana explained that the implementation of the handling of the homecoming flow was also part of the 2022 Ketupat Operation from April 28 to May 9, 2022.
