AMBON - Prosecutors have arrested and secured two convicts of corruption in the PNPM Mandiri Rural funds in the Aru Islands Regency for the 2011 and 2012 fiscal years, which cost the state finances Rp. 1.5 billion.

According to him, Amandus alias Nandy was arrested by prosecutors based on the decision of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia No. 1677 K/Pid.Sus/2018 dated 19 November 2018 in a corruption case that was carried out jointly and continued to misuse PNPM Mandiri funds in Rural Areas, North Aru District for the 2011 fiscal year and 2012.
"He was sentenced to four years in prison, fined Rp. 200 million, subsidiary to three months in prison, and to pay compensation of Rp. 835.3 million, subsidiary to six months in prison," Wahyudi explained.
The arrest was made after receiving information on the whereabouts of the convict in Langgur Village, then the staff of the Aru Islands Kejari was ordered to go to Tual and conduct monitoring for two days to ascertain the convict's position.
After coordination was carried out between Kajari Dobo and Kajari Tual, the convict was secured and has now been taken to the Dobo Prison.
The former Public Prosecutor for Dobo in this case, Ajid Latuconsina said, in the 2011 and 2012 fiscal years, the Aru Islands Regency received more than IDR 8 billion in Rural PNPM Mandiri funds sourced from the APBN and the Regency APBD.
The budget should be used to procure various types of materials to build various basic infrastructure facilities in 23 villages in the sub-districts of North Aru and Aru Tengah.
The basic infrastructure that must be built includes the construction of docks for boat moorings, rebate roads, and a number of other basic facilities in the villages.
However, various physical works in the field did not match the budget disbursement made by the convicts, resulting in a state loss of Rp. 3 billion, according to the results of the investigation audit of the RI BPKP for the Maluku Province Representative.
Because some of the PNPM Mandiri Rural funds were deliberately kept by the defendants and used them to enrich themselves.
