DPW NasDem DIY Proposes Three Names Of Presidential Candidates, The Names Of General Andika Perkasa-Anies Baswedan
JAKARTA - The Regional Leadership Council (DPW) of the NasDem Party for the Special Region of Yogyakarta proposed three names as presidential candidates for 2024. The three are DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo, and TNI Commander General Andika Perkasa.
These three names will later be proposed by NasDem DIY in the National Working Meeting (Rakernas) of the NasDem Party DPP which will be held on 15-17 June 2022 at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC).
"We propose three names based on the results of an internal survey. Anies, Ganjar and Andika are the top figures based on the survey that the people of Yogyakarta want," said Subardi, Chair of the DPW NasDem DIY, in a written statement, Wednesday, May 4.
Subardi said the internal survey took into account the level of electability and the effect of vote acquisition for the NasDem Party in Yogyakarta.
Apart from being survey-based, the three are also suggestions from DPW NasDem cadres throughout DIY. "So this is part of democracy in NasDem. The proposal will be brought to the National Working Meeting. Of course, the General Chairperson has special considerations," he said.
NasDem Jogja also hopes that the coalition axis built by the DPP includes the three names. However, Subardi said, the entire structure of the NasDem in Yogyakarta would be ready to win whoever the candidate decided by their general chairman, Surya Paloh.
"The three of them could be bargaining power to build a coalition for 2024. But once again, the party machines throughout DIY will support whoever NasDem chooses," explained Subardi.
The cadres believe that Surya Paloh has a strategy to make the NasDem Party bigger. Not only that, the democratic system that has been running in determining presidential candidates will prevent pros and cons.
"Pak Surya has extraordinary political instincts. It has been proven that the two previous elections NasDem won and won the top 4 rankings in parliament. I am sure that the decision later will not trigger internal pros and cons," he concluded.
