Dubai authorities have announced that they will issue gold visas and provide financial rewards for imams, preachers and muezzins who have served in the emirate for more than 20 years.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, issued the order under the direction of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai.
The order was made in appreciation of their efforts to spread Islamic teachings and spread the values of tolerance, especially during the month of Ramadan.
The Crown Prince said the important role played by Dubai's imams, preachers and muezzins was recognized. To that end, the Crown Prince also asked them to continue spreading the true message and values of Islam.
So far, there are 2,178 mosques across Dubai, data compiled by the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities shows, which is an increase from 2,098 in 2018.
Meanwhile, workers in mosques under the department include more than 475 imams, 404 muezzins, and 41 khatib.
