DLH Bandung Ensures 1,500 Cleaning Officers Work During Eid

BANDUNG - The Bandung City Environment Agency (DLH) has ensured that 1,500 cleaners will continue to work during Eid 2022.

"We from the Environment Agency anticipate an increase in waste production by reducing 1,500 cleaning workers," said Head of DLH Bandung City Dudy Prayudi in Bandung, West Java, Antara, Sunday, May 1.

This, he said, was carried out to anticipate the increase in waste production until D+5 Lebaran 2022. The officers were supported by 111 vehicles consisting of trucks, pickups, and garbage motorbikes.

Yudi estimates that in Lebaran 2022 there will be an increase in waste production by around 2-5 percent compared to normal days.

Currently, he said, Bandung City's waste production is around 1,200 tons per day. His prediction, he said, would increase by 60 tons of waste on Eid day.

"Tonnage on a normal day is around 1,200 tons, we predict an increase to 1,250-1,260 tons per day on Eid day," said Dudy.

The addition of garbage, said Yudi, was spread in tourist attractions and Eid activity centers such as takbiran places, Eid prayer locations, halal bihalal and pilgrimages.

"Because the city of Bandung is a tourist destination, we anticipate accumulation in tourist attractions. In addition, we also anticipate when the Eid prayer is over," he said.

Dudy said that on the D day of Eid, the Sarimukti Final Disposal Site (TPA) was closed. For this reason, he appealed to the public to refrain from throwing garbage into Temporary Disposal Sites (TPS).

In addition, he also asked the public to apply the concept of Kang Pisman (Reduce Separate and Utilize Waste) by separating organic and inorganic waste independently.

"In addition to being able to reduce the waste, we can save the waste in waste banks scattered in the region and produce its own economic value," he said.
