Heavy Rain Continues To Flush Jakarta, 300 Houses In Ciganjur Are Flooded

JAKARTA - A gray Saturday night for residents on Jalan Damai RT 04 / RW 02, Cinganjur Village, South Jakarta. There are 300 houses flooded with a height of 70 cm to 150 cm tonight.

Head of Jagakarsa District, H Alamsah, said that the flood originated from the overflow of Setu River's children due to high rainfall and water from the Depok area.

"The rain is quite heavy, besides that in Depok it is also raining. Kali Baru flows in Depok," said Alamsyah as we quoted from Antara, Saturday, October 10, 2020.

The overflow of the Kali Baru children was because the river divider in the Melati Resident area was broken. As a result, water overflowed into residential areas in RT 04 / RW 02.

A number of residents' houses on the edge of the river were also damaged, one resident died and two others were injured as a result of the incident.

"Two of them have been evacuated at Sibron Hospital, the other one has the information that he died at the Marine Hospital," said Alamsyah.

The victim died as a result of being hit by his house, which was damaged by the overflow of Kali Setu's children. Until now, the water is still high enough to inundate residential areas on Jalan Damai.

His party has prepared three shelters for displaced residents, but most residents prefer to stay on the second floor of their house.

"The Jakarta Social Service has set up tents at the site for residents to evacuate. We need food assistance," said Alamsyah.
