Undergoing Preparations For The 2021 SEA Games, The Indonesian Triathlon Team For Lebaran Away From Family
JAKARTA - It is certain that the athletes of the Indonesian triathlon team will not go home to celebrate Eid with their families. They will focus on preparing for the 2021 SEA Games in Bandung, West Java.
The manager of the Indonesian triathlon team, Dika Chrisna Irzandi, said the athletes did not go home for Eid because they had been given the opportunity to meet family before Ramadan.
"The coach has given them the opportunity to meet their families before Ramadan," said Dika, as quoted by Antara.
Dika also revealed that this time the national training was quite strict because the conditions were still in the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, the athletes are also very disciplined in carrying out the program from the coach.
"During fasting the training program was adjusted. They fasted and when sahur was strict. The coach and the nutritionist team prepared food from 03:30 and they continued to eat until the dawn call to prayer," said Dika.
The coaching team has compiled a program to get peak performance when competing at the 31st edition of the biggest sporting event in Southeast Asia.
Please note, the Indonesian Triathlon Federation (FTI) has prepared eight athletes for the 2021 SEA Games. They are Jauhari Johan, Rudi Febriade, Ronald Bintang Setiawan, and Aloysius Reckyardo Mardian in the men's sector.
Then there are Eva Desiana, Zahra Bulan Aprillia Putri, Nethavani Octaria, and Inge Prasetyo in the women's number.
They will compete in four events, namely men's and women's triathlons (swimming, running, cycling), and men's and women's triathlons (running and cycling). The Indonesian triathlon team plans to leave for Vietnam on May 6.
"The competition is on May 14-15. So we leave early so that athletes can acclimatize or adapt to the weather, humidity, temperature. So it is hoped that when the time comes to compete, they will be adaptive to the conditions there," said Dika.
