Shooting Terror At Intan Jaya, Kapolda: The Police Are Always Blamed, The KKB Violates Human Rights
JAKARTA - The armed criminal group (KKB) has committed 23 times of shooting terror in Intan Jaya Regency, Papua. KKB continues to terrorize to kill civilians with a series of shootings.
"People always blame the authorities for violating human rights, which human rights. In fact, they are the ones who violate human rights far more severely. Motorcycle taxi drivers were slaughtered, traders were killed, humanitarian officers handling COVID-19 were slaughtered, not including members of the TNI and Polri who were killed," said Kapolda. Papua Inspector General Paulus Waterpauw quoted Antara, Saturday, October 10.
Based on intelligence reports, since October 2019 a number of KKB members have begun to shift from the eastern region of Intan Jaya such as from Puncak Ilaga, Puncak Jaya, Tolikara and even Lanny Jaya to the area around Sugapa. Some of these groups had entered the Tembagapura Mimika area in February 2020.
"They all joined into the area to prepare the logistics they would prepare to fight in the Tembagapura area which they declared a battlefield, but they also continued to look for ammunition and firearms that they took from our members. The Hitadipa Preparatory Koramil attack incident some time ago it has something to do with the interest to seize firearms and ammunition, "said Inspector General Paulus.
He really hopes for the active involvement of the Intan Jaya Regency Government to invite armed separatist groups to dialogue. The goal is that forms of violence in the Intan Jaya area can be ended.
"This is already clear, there is no secret anymore. The regent and the government as the people have invited them to talk through influential figures so that we will immediately end the violence," said Inspector General Paulus.
Meanwhile, it was emphasized that the security apparatus did not tolerate acts of violence. Law enforcement continues to be carried out on the KKB.
"For us there are only two options, because they have firearms, it is our job to enforce the law. We will definitely continue to pursue them. If this security approach continues, it will certainly not solve the problem," he said.
Inspector General Paulus ensured that Polda Papua together with Kodam XVII / Cenderawasih had sufficient strength to shift to Intan Jaya to face the KKB. However, there are obstacles regarding facilities and infrastructure in Sugapa such as a place to live.
"It is impossible for us to send members there, while there are no houses there. That's why we continue to work together with the Regent and the Chairperson of the Intan Jaya DPRD so that if any of their places have not been used, we can temporarily borrow them to occupy troops to strengthen security. at Intan Jaya, "said Inspector General Paulus.
