KM 90 Tangerang-Merak Toll Road Congested Up To 8 Meters, Banten Police Perform Traffic Engineering

BANTEN - There was a heavy traffic jam of up to eight kilometers at KM 90 of the Tangerang-Merak Toll Road, Saturday, April 30. The Head of Public Relations of the Banten Police, Kombes Shinto Silitonga, said that the traffic jam occurred because the volume of vehicles going to Merak Port was quite high.

"The Merak toll road is currently at a density of 90 km, meaning that there are 7 to 8 kilometers up to the exit of the Merak toll road itself," Shinto said when confirmed.

Therefore, Shinto said, his party carried out traffic engineering to break down the density of vehicles.

"So traffic engineering is implemented by diverting the flow of vehicles out of the East Cilegon toll road," he explained.

Shinto explained that the number of vehicles crossing the Merak Port has increased to this day. It was recorded that 45 ships were dispatched with 126 trips.

Furthermore, Shinto said, there were 155,812 passengers on Saturday. Meanwhile, on the previous day, Friday, April 29, there were 129,866 passengers at Merak Harbor.

"According to the data received, for 24 yesterday until now. The Merak Port Authority dispatched 45 ships with 126 trips carrying 155,812 passengers," said the Head of Public Relations of the Banten Police.

"This figure is much higher when compared to the previous day's data, namely 129,866 passengers, which increased by 25,956 passengers or 19.97 percent, and 31,934 vehicles, which increased by 5,578 vehicles, or 18 percent," he concluded.
