Creative Differences Are The Reason For Doctor Strange's Sequel Director To Resign
JAKARTA - There is bad news for fans of Marvel films. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness director Scott Derrickson has stepped down.
Launching Variety, Friday, January 10, Marvel said Derrickson's resignation was due to creative differences. Even so, he will remain an executive producer.
"Marvel Studios and Scott Derrickson amicably parted ways with Doctor Strange in Multiverse of Madness due to creative differences," Marvel said in a statement to Variety. "We remain grateful to Scott for his contribution to the MCU."
Derrickson said the decision was done in a good manner. The two parties did not suffer any losses.
"Marvel and I agreed to split up on Doctor Strange: In Multiverse of Madness because of creative differences," Derrickson tweeted. "I am grateful for our collaboration and will remain as EP (executive producer)."
Marvel and I have mutually agreed to part ways on Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness due to creative differences. I am thankful for our collaboration and will remain on as EP.

Derickson's withdrawal has no effect on the shooting schedule, the sequel to Doctor Strange will go into production in May. The search for a replacement for director is currently underway.
Doctor Strange was an important and commercial success when it was launched in 2016, raking in nearly US $ 680 million globally.
The sequel will return to feature Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Strange, a master of mystical arts. Elizabeth Olsen, who plays Scarlet Witch, is also expected to appear in the film.
Previously, while attending San Diego Comic Con six months ago, Derrickson said Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness would be Marvel's first horror film.
"We are going to make a terrible MCU film for the first time," he said.
So far, Marvel has never issued a horror genre film. Derrickson's being behind the scenes is appropriate given his credits include The Exorcism of Emily Rose and Sinister. Marvel Studios seems to want to get out of its comfort zone by presenting a gripping and scary feel.
However, with the withdrawal of the man who also directed the first Doctor Strange film, will Marvel ever recruit a new director who has a background in horror films? We are waiting for further news, before Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness releases on May 7, 2021.
