Private Vehicle Movement Up 141 Percent Until D-5 Lebaran, Ministry Of Transportation: Nearly 1 Million Vehicles Leave Jabodetabek
JAKARTA - The movement of private vehicles on D-5 Eid or Lebaran 2022, increased significantly to reach 141 percent. The trend of increasing vehicle movement continues to occur every day.
Spokesman for the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) Adita Irawati said there was an increasing trend of traffic leaving the Jabotabek area to the east via the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road towards Cikampek.
"After Tuesday, April 26 or D-6, traffic increased by 89 percent, Jasa Marga again recorded an increase of up to 141 percent on Wednesday, April 27 or D-5 yesterday, when compared to normal traffic in the November 2021 period," he said, in a virtual press conference, Thursday, April 28.
It was recorded that a total of 74,634 vehicles left Jabotabek via GT Cikampek Utama, which in the normal period of 2021 will be around 31,023 vehicles. Meanwhile, cumulatively as many as 951,758 vehicles left the Jabotabek area on D-10 to D-5 for Eid Al-Fitr 2022 which falls in the period 22-27 April 2022.
This figure is the cumulative number of traffic (traffic) from the four Barrier/Main Toll Gates (GT), namely GT Cikupa (direction Merak), GT Ciawi (direction Puncak), and GT Cikampek Utama and GT Kalihurip Utama (direction Trans Java and Bandung).
"The total volume of traffic leaving the Jabotabek area rose 9.4 percent compared to normal traffic for the November 2021 period with a total of 870,371 vehicles," he explained.
For distribution, traffic leaving Jabotabek goes to three directions, namely the majority of 471,044 vehicles, 49.5 percent heading east or trans Java and Bandung. Then, as many as 289,122 vehicles or 30.4 percent headed towards the West (Merak), and 191,592 vehicles and 20.1 percent headed towards the South or Puncak.
With high public interest in going home this year, the government appealed to the public to go home early and continue to apply health protocols, in order to realize a safe and healthy homecoming.
