Coordinating Minister For PMK: If Homecoming Is Successful We Can Go To Endemic

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy said that Indonesia could progress towards the COVID-19 endemic era if the Eid homecoming and return to the capital city could be successfully implemented.

"Therefore, if this homecoming will be successful in the sense that the journey will not have many obstacles, there will not be many unwanted events, and the return of the COVID-19 condition will remain under control, then we will have confidence that we will proceed towards the endemic era," said Muhadjir at Jatijajar Terminal, Depok, West Java, reported by Antara, Thursday, April 28.

The Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture explained that the control of COVID-19 cases, especially if cases continued to decline after the Eid moment, could be a consideration for the government in making better COVID-19 control policies.

Muhadjir said that this year's Eid was used as a momentum so that the homecoming trip was carried out in a safe and healthy manner. "It's safe to travel really safe until you are happy, healthy means that there is no increase in COVID-19," said Muhadjir.

The Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture together with the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi reviewed the preparations for going home together as well as releasing the free homecoming buses at Jatijajar Terminal, Depok, West Java.

The Ministry of Transportation through the Directorate General of Land Transportation will organize Free Homecoming in 2022 by providing 686 buses that will take homecomers from Jakarta to Central Java, West Java and East Java.

In addition to providing free homecoming buses, the Ministry of Transportation also provides 64 trucks that will carry around 2,000 motorbikes to Central and East Java.
