Ganjar Pranowo Often Linked To E-KTP Cases, KPK: We Have Not Found Evidence

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said it had not found evidence of the involvement of the Governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo in the corruption case in the procurement of e-KTP.

The name of the PDIP politician is often associated with mega-corruption cases that have cost the state up to Rp. 2.3 trillion. Ganjar, who was sitting on Commission II of the DPR RI, was said to have enjoyed the flow of hot money to smooth the process of discussing the project.

"Until today, we have not found any evidence or not. We cannot designate someone as a suspect without any evidence," Firli told reporters at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, April 28.

The KPK, continued Firli, works in accordance with existing laws and regulations. Thus, if there is no evidence related to someone's involvement in a corruption case, then an investigation cannot be carried out.

"In fact, if we call someone without evidence it is wrong. This is called legal certainty. This is also called certainty of justice. KPK should not be part of the issue created by people with unclear sources," he said.

"What is certain is that the KPK works in accordance with the legislation," added Firli.

Previously, the KPK named four new suspects in the e-KTP case in August 2019.

They are former DPR member Miryam S Hariyani, President Director of Perum PNRI who is also Chairman of the PNRI Consortium, Isnu Edhi Wijaya, Head of the Information Technology Technical Team for the Application of Electronic Identity Cards, Husni Fahmi, and President Director of PT Sandipala Arthaputra, Paulus Tannos.

In addition, this case has dragged the names of a number of high-ranking officials in the ministry such as the former Director General of Dukcapil Irman and a former official at the Ministry of Home Affairs Sugiharto.

Next, there are also the names of the former Chairman of the DPR RI Setya Novanto, the former member of Commission III DPR RI Fraction Hanura Miryam S Haryani, former member of Commission III DPR RI Markus Nari.
