2022 Asian Badminton Championships: Jonathan Christie Steps Into The Quarter-Finals By Eliminating Representatives Of Malaysia
JAKARTA - Indonesian men's singles, Jonatan Christie, stepped into the quarter-finals of the 2022 Asian Badminton Championships after winning over the representative of Malaysia, Daren Liew. In the match which took place on Thursday, April 28, Jojo secured victory with a score of 21-14, 13-21 and 21-19.
Appearing at the Muntinlupa Sports Complex, Jonathan Christie's victory was dramatic. Jojo had to go through a duel for 55 minutes to end Daren Liew's resistance.
At the beginning of the first game, Jonathan was left behind by a thin score of 4-5, but then he was able to catch up and balance the score to draw 6-6. After that, he continued to lead until the first interval with 11-8 points over the 35th ranked Malaysia representative.
After the break, Jonathan did not want to lose the moment and continued to shoot with 13-8 points. But Liew also did not want to give up and tried hard to chase five points, but Jonathan finally closed the first game 21-14.
Entering the second game, Jonathan continued to take advantage of his previous advantage to steal 10-2 points. But that good effort didn't last, as Liew got up and chased and allowed Jonathan to trail 10-11 at the interval of the second game.
Jonathan could only add two points in the second half of the second game. So this time Liew won with a score of 21-13 in the second game.

Ahsan/Hendra lost 9-21, 15-21 in a match that lasted 27 minutes.
