Anies Baswedan's Position Ends In 2023 But The Formula E Contract Lasts Until 2024, The KPK Asks For Expert Testimony
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will explore the contract for organizing the international Formula E car racing event. The reason is that this race is planned to run for three years starting this year or 2022-2024.
However, the term of the governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, will expire in 2023 and this is considered unconstitutional.
"There is a stipulation that an official cannot bind a contract that uses a budget (APBD, ed) and passes his term of office," said KPK Deputy Chair Alexander Marwata, quoted from the Indonesian KPK YouTube, Wednesday, April 27.
However, the anti-corruption commission does not want to talk much about the implementation of the international electric car race. Alexander said his party would ask for expert information first.
"There is such a provision, we will explore it by asking for expert testimony," he said.
In addition, this investigation will also examine the mechanism for paying the commitment fee. The KPK indicated that there had been an error in the financing mechanism for this Formula E activity.
One of them, Alexander said, relates to a regulation from the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) which states that the APBD budget cannot be used to finance activities for business purposes.
"So business to business cannot be financed with the APBD budget, there is already information from the regional government, from the Ministry of Home Affairs when the DKI Provincial Government asks for input," he said.
Alexander ensured that the investigation into alleged corruption in Formula E would continue. A number of parties, including PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) will be questioned regarding some of the things he has described.
"We are still looking for information, for example regarding how Formula E is organized in other countries. Is there a kind of commitment fee and so on and we are also trying to ask for information from the party who received the transfer of funds from the DKI Provincial Government," he explained.
"Of course later we will continue to explore including information from Jakpro as the organizer," he concluded.
